Surveillance software firm hacking team being attacked by hackers

The Hacking Team that specializes in making surveillance software has been hacked in a cyber attack which is ironically reflection to the Hacking Team.

It is said a large-scale date has been breached during the cyber attack. What is more, the Hackers took over the company’s Twitter feed and changed its account name to ” Hacked Team”.

To prove the cyber attack, the hackers posted the so-called evidence of data breach on Twitter in which emails sent by Hacking Team CEO Vincent Vincenzetti are included.

The critics found that Hacking Team designs softwares which are used to spy on dissidents, human rights activists and journalists. However, the company denied it. The company claims that its software is designed in accordance with law for investigations. If what the critics said come true, it will cause unease situation among its clients of Hacking Team.

Christopher Soghoian who was appointed as Speech, Privacy and Technology project of the American Civil Liberties Union, a long-term critic of the organization revealed the evidence that there was 400 GB of data was stolen during the cyber attack.

The information seized in the data is reported to include a spreadsheet listing contains the Hacking Team’s government clients and also with their transactions.
