Uber’s ride-sharing service is temporarily close in France due to nationwide taxi strike

Uber made up the decision to stop its low-coast UberPOP Service in France as the recent protests against the service’s legality.

The protests become intense between non-professional Uber drivers and standard taxi drivers. It burst out violent riots in Paris last week.

The taxi drivers from other firms protest the San Francisco-based firm of Uber takes advantage of the competitors as the Uber drivers have no need to get a taxi license or training.It is unfair to its competitors. The Uberpop service is against the presence of a law that carried out last year which requiring all drivers to have a professional licensee and insurance.

Based on the case of Germany’s ban last year, the regulators and taxi unions demanded a complete ban on Uber in France, however, Uber has appealed this lawsuit in domestic and EU courts.

Since there is hostility against Uber drivers from other professional drivers, the firm made the decision to temporarily close the service until the Constitutional Court’s decision in September. And the company has stated this decision in a statement.

The company also stated that it will be sorry for 500,000 French UberPOP passengers and those drivers who use this platform. But it stated that Safety comes first for its passengers and drivers.

As the Paris protest evolved, Ubess director general Thibaud Simphal and director for Western Europe Pierre Dimitri Gore Coty were detained in the police station.
